How to Gain Muscle

In many cases, despite an aggressive workout program, it can be difficult for certain people to gain muscle. They wonder aloud, just how to gain muscle. In the case of these people, who are often called “hard gainers,” a solution can often be attained with a tweak of their diet and exercise program.

In order to gain muscle it is critical that you provide your body with enough fuel to promote growth. Usually it is recommended that a person consume 1.5 grams of protein daily for every 1 pound of body weight. If you haven’t been meeting this goal it is critical that you increase your daily intake of protein. If you are meeting or exceeding this goal and still having trouble gaining muscle then you may need to increase the amount of protein you’re getting. How to Gain Muscle

This can be difficult for some, and remember the goal is to build muscle not to gain fat. Therefore consider using supplement shakes to drink more grams of protein. Additionally when mixing these shakes do not use water or skim milk as is recommended for most individuals. Instead use whole milk or even a portion of cream in every shake. This will make your shake taste even better and will amp up the level of calories you are receiving.

Also, your workout program may need a little tweaking. For most individuals cardiovascular exercise is an important component of a workout regimen. However, if you are having trouble and wondering how to gain muscle, then you may be overdoing it.

Aerobic exercise stimulates the body to convert fat (and muscle) to energy in order to sustain your level of exertion. You may simply be exercising too much and thus burning the fuel that your body would need to build muscle. In this case you are recommended to tone down your cardio activity.

A normal individual may attempt to aerobically exercise for more than 30 minutes a day. For a hard gainer this is simply too much. A different strategy would be to limit your aerobic exercises to 15 minute sessions. Or, if this is insufficient, eliminate aerobic exercises from your regimen entirely
