Build Muscle Without Weights
For a small percentage of fitness-minded individuals weights have very limited appeal. This can be due to many factors. Perhaps a person doesn’t want to risk injury or perhaps they don’t own or have access to any equipment. For these individuals it is still possible to build muscle without weights, however to do so requires an extra degree of creativity.
The most elementary way to build muscle without weights is by utilizing what I refer to as the gym class classics. These are tried and true exercises such as sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, and crunches. On their own this class of exercises won’t get you ripped, however they lay the foundation for the exercises that can help in this area.
In a short while, you can master the exercises above. When this happens it is time to move onto other exercises which target specific muscles or muscle groups in the body. A tough muscle to tone and build without weights is the bicep. The first thing almost anyone wants to develop is their biceps muscle in their arms, which is a little tricky without weights.
In order to stimulate this muscle to generate growth you are going to need to stimulate it somehow. One option is to use canned goods in a plastic bag. Lift this “weight” until you feel a slight burn in your arm.
3-Chest
Another key muscle group are the chest muscles. Most everyone wants a hard defined chest and one way to target your pectorals are to use the push-up exercise with a slight modification. Rather than commencing the exercise with your feet on the ground, raise them onto a chair or other piece of furniture letting all of your mass bear down on your arms.
By doing this you will maximize the workout’s effects on your chest. Just remember that a modified push-up can be much more challenging than a traditional push-up.
In order to target your shoulder muscles you can use a variation of a pull-up. When gripping the bar it is important that you position your hands further apart on the bar to shift your point of emphasis to the shoulders. Doing so will produce much more pronounced results on the shoulder area.
As you can see, there are ways to build muscle without weights. In fact the only limitation may be your creativity. Just remember to always follow proper safety guidelines in all your exercises.
